About Us
Canberra Boarding Kennels is a small and caring kennel, probably the smallest licenced kennel in the Canberra Region. Wendy and Kim have owned the kennel since 2003.
Involvement in the dog world.
Wendy and Kim are registered breeders of Syrinx Weimaraners and Weimaraner Longhairs, and have been involved in the breed for seven years.
Wendy has also had Wentari Miniature Pinschers, and bred her first Australian Champion at 19 years of age. She has been involved in the Dog World since 1978, when she started out with a Chihuahua. There has also been, at different times, a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, a Shih Tzu, a Lhasa Apso, Dachshunds, a working Kelpie, a working Border Collie, Australian Terriers, a Corgi, a Pekingese, a Fox Terrier x and a Rhodesian Ridgeback x. Wendy is an Obedience Instructor with the Companion Dog Club of the ACT, and trials Australian Champion Sinaway You Can Hope CCD, ET, CGC (Lara to her friends) in Obedience. Lara is one of the most highly awarded Longhaired Weimaraners in Australia. Australian Champion Sinaway Zorros Mark TD, CGC , Zed, was the first dog from the Canberra region for about nine years to gain a qualification in Tracking.
Kim is a top flight musician, and both a Primary School teacher, and a High School Music teacher. She is a wood wind player and is an ex Australian Army Band member. Someone the other day asked her if the kennel was her 'hobby' then, which, considering the amount of work that goes on here, is rather amusing! She has taught all grades from Kindergarten to HSC, and TAFE, as well as music students in many of the top private schools in both Sydney and Adelaide.
